guest haiku

A guest haiku by "papa" originally posted on Tiny Words.

13th birthday
dad & gramps inspect
my first dry fly

playing him…
the trout leads me into
a raspberry thicket

birthday dinner
the day’s catch sizzles
in a cast iron skillet

frankie,

i'm confused, are these haiku yours, or are you just posting
them without giving credit to
the real author? if you took a
ten point buck would you dig it
if another hunter claimed it as her kill? i ask because your last response was more indicative of
your....shall we say "style?"

jt,
two questions...

what do you want me to say?
are you also "frank zappai?"

two points to clarify...

i'm not an "animal rights wacko."
i think "hunting" is great subject
matter for haiku/senryu.

two things to consider...

per bodhidarma "nothing holy."
per bumps cassidy "it's all in fun"

harvest moon...
a rifle shot crackles
and then another

I'm trying to avoid comment moderation. I'm pleased that you are reading this blog. I'm thrilled with constructive criticism. I disagree with your assessment that "per Bumps Cassidy 'it's all in fun.'" I can do without the mean-spirited and malevolent comments, e.g., "these haiku are pathetic."

I will remove your haiku from this site. I welcome your constructive comments and criticism. I've been doing this (haiku) for exactly three months, and I'm still learning--clearly you've been at it a lot longer, and just as clearly I could probably learn a lot from you. But I won't put up with the tone you've projected so far. I will delete your comments. To paraphrase Thumper, if you can't say something constructive, don't say nuthin at all.
