Halloween -
an albino deer comes
to the bait pile

windy day
a decoy pulled loose
floats away

old setter snores
as I write out the check
for a puppy

rough shooting
the exquisite agony
of missing

opening day -
the old man's duck boat
lies unused

man and dog -
deep in the thicket
a grouse waits

hunting trip -
a bald eagle flies over
the forest

For the next ten or so days, I'll be on my 2007 Grouse Odyssey. See you all when I get back.
